Job offer: Senior Lecturer in Distributed Systems

 

Description:

University of Tartu's Institute of Computer Science (CS) has over 400 students (incl. 35 doctoral students) and 36 academic staff. The Institute is a key research partner in the Estonian Center of Excellence in Computer Science and in the Software Technology and Applications Competence Centre – an R&D centre that involves 10 industry partner and conducts industry-driven research projects.

The Distributed Systems group carries out research in Scientific Computing, Cloud computing, P2P Computing,  Mobile Computing, and Information Management.

The main research subjects include computations for parallel solution of large sparse systems of linear equations, automatic parallelization of numerically intensive codes. The group is developing the concept of Friend-to-Friend Computing for easy setup of spontaneous desktop Grids triggered through instant messaging software. SciCloud project is utilizing Cloud technologies for scientific applications. Mobile devices are considered as part of various systems for certain purposes.
